Impedance Spectroscopy in Materials Science
Prof. Jean-Claude M’Peko, PhD
Instituto de Física de São Carlos (IFSC), Universidad de São Paulo (USP), Brasil
In the context of this ICSMV 2025 Congress, scheduled is a mini-course on Dielectric/Impedance Spectroscopy in Materials Science, which will include:
(i) an introduction to the physical basis of this spectroscopic technique, starting with a review of the behavior of resistors, capacitors and inductors in direct and alternating current circuits, followed by (ii) a discussion on the use of graphical representations and circuit models as useful tools in the interpretation of (di)electric processes in materials (polarization and conduction, for example), ending with (iii) the analysis and discussion of different exemplary scenarios and effects that illustrate the versatility of this technique in the characterization of diverse materials.
